Your member dues are leveraged with the dues of others to retain the best legal and lobbying representation at the national level, undoubtedly a level of service that no individual banker could afford.
Membership gets you a “seat at the table“ with policymakers in all key agencies involved in the rulemaking and implementation process.(example recent OMB meeting on the rule)
Based on the creditability established by the NMBA, members are asked to provide comment on new key federal initiatives in the formulation stage. Recent examples include U. S. Forest Service Mitigation on Public Lands and the development of water-quality trading principles.
The NMBA has supported individual members in local permitting matters that have policy implications at the national level. A recent example in which NMBA engaged is the Chicago O’Hare airport’s in-lieu fee mitigation plan.
Members have the opportunity to work with other members from around the country to share experiences and receive advice and counsel available no where else.
